Google AI Plus vs AI Pro: Which Plan Do You Need?
Google AI Plus costs $4.99 a month and Google AI Pro costs $19.99. Plus is the cheapest way to get more Gemini than the free tier, with 400GB of storage included. Pro is for daily heavy use: it adds Deep Research, Veo video generation and a much larger monthly allowance of AI credits.
Here is what the $15 difference buys, and how to tell which one you need.

Who needs which
Google AI Plus
Everyday questions, writing help and summaries a few times a week — and you want storage too. At $4.99 it is the cheapest paid AI plan among the major providers.
Google AI Pro
You use Gemini daily for research or work, need Deep Research, or want to generate video with Veo. Pro also pays for itself if you already need 2TB of storage.
Neither
You ask the occasional question. The free Gemini tier covers that.
The storage angle most people miss
Both plans bundle Google One storage. If you already pay Google for storage, part of the AI plan is replacing a bill you have anyway.
That makes Pro look very different for a family or small business already paying for 2TB: the AI features are effectively the extra on top of storage they were buying regardless.
Comparing against rivals? ChatGPT vs Gemini vs Grok lines up every tier across the three.
