Netflix UK Price 2026: How Much Netflix Costs Now
Netflix UK now costs £7.99 a month with ads, £13.99 for Standard and £20.99 for Premium. Those prices took effect on 3 September 2026, and the cheapest tier took the hardest hit — up from £5.99, a rise of about a third. Premium has crossed £20 a month for the first time.
This was Netflix's second UK increase of 2026. Below is what each plan costs now, what it costs you over a year, and where the sensible savings are.
Netflix UK price tiers at a glance
| Plan | Per month | Per year | Video quality | Screens at once | Extra members |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard with ads | £7.99 | £95.88 | 1080p Full HD | 2 | Not available |
| Standard | £13.99 | £167.88 | 1080p Full HD | 2 | 1 slot |
| Premium | £20.99 | £251.88 | 4K Ultra HD + HDR | 4 | Up to 2 |
The spread between the cheapest and dearest plan is £13 a month, or £156 a year. Standard and the ad tier deliver an identical 1080p picture on the same two screens — the £6 gap between them buys you nothing except the removal of ads and one extra-member slot.
Prices are Netflix's published UK rates in GBP, effective 3 September 2026.
Netflix UK price increase 2026: what changed on 3 September
| Plan | Before | After | Increase | Extra per year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard with ads | £5.99 | £7.99 | +33% | +£24.00 |
| Standard | £12.99 | £13.99 | +8% | +£12.00 |
| Premium | £18.99 | £20.99 | +11% | +£24.00 |
The ad-supported tier rose by a third in one step. That is the plan Netflix has spent two years pushing as the affordable entry point, and it is now only £6 below full Standard.
Worth noting this was the second UK rise of 2026, not the first. If you signed up early in the year on a price you were happy with, you are likely paying meaningfully more now for exactly the same service.
Which Netflix UK plan actually fits you
Standard with ads
One or two people, no 4K television, and ad breaks do not spoil it for you. At £7.99 it is the cheapest legitimate way in, with the same 1080p picture as Standard.
Standard
You want ad-free but do not need 4K, and two screens covers the household. The extra-member slot lets you add someone outside your home properly.
Premium
A 4K HDR television, or more than two people watching simultaneously. It is the only tier that offers either — both cheaper plans cap at 1080p and two streams.
The deciding questions are simple: is your TV actually 4K, and do more than two people watch at once? If the answer to both is no, Premium is £13 a month for headroom you will never touch.
Cheaper ways to watch Netflix in the UK
Drop a tier and check what you lose. Premium to Standard saves £84 a year. If nothing you own displays 4K, the picture on screen does not change at all.
Share Premium properly. Premium carries four streams and two extra-member slots. Split across a household it is the cheapest tier per person, and the official slots keep everyone on their own profile and viewing history.
Do not pay through the quiet months. Netflix has no cancellation fee and keeps your profiles for a while. If you finish a series and stop opening the app, pausing and restarting later costs nothing.
